Therapy and change for:

Healing

The power of the mind, body and spirit to heal and repair the human body constantly amazes.

Legally the term 'miracle' cannot be used to describe some of the things that have been witnessed with clients. As a practicing therapist, guiding the mind, body and spirit for self-healing is truly some of the most rewarding experiences. Seeing people re-discover their natural state and return to good health is special.

The human form is constantly in a state of regeneration. Every cell is regenerated or duplicated regardless of the condition. From a simple instruction such as only regenerating healthy cells as opposed to regenerating damaged ones, to changing complex neuro pathways, the plasticity of the mind allows for all boundaries to be broken, all borders to be crossed and healing to take place.

Government guidelines and the code of ethics restrict the use of certain words and claims. To that end, I would be pleased to discuss any specific questions you may have to determine if therapy would be useful for you.

Anxiety

People with anxiety usually present with symptoms of worry and stress. They experience a feeling of overwhelm and it has typically been going on for a period of time. If they are fortunate enough to seek help early, then perhaps it has only been for a short period of time.

Anxiety can take many different forms. Some people experience general anxiety with worry over day-to-day issues while others may have specific disorders. Social anxiety is an example of stress that is brought about by the fear of being in public. It may be brought on by internal voices passing judgements on what others may or may not be thinking about you.

Just thinking about a situation or up-coming event can bring on all the symptoms.

When a client presents with anxiety based disorders there is definitely a mis-match between what the person knows is logical and their experience of their own reality. It can be resolved! For some people what seems like a lifetime of living with anxiety is released quickly and easily.

Depression

Is your depression getting you down? It's important to recognise that a period of feeling depressed might be appropriate if a major event has deeply affected you, such as the death of a loved one. If it has gone on for too long or it is affecting other areas of your life, then it is time to take action. Long periods of depression are unhealthy.

Depression is a cycle of learning that has the sufferer re-living unpleasant past events over and over again. These events are superimposed over current and future events planting seeds of hopelessness, loneliness, unworthiness and other unhelpful thoughts.

Using deep relaxation techniques we de-stress and explore the possibilities of letting go. Sometimes time-line therapy is used to unlock the initial event, thus releasing all subsequent and future events from the linked cause. Out of the depression emerges thoughts of hope and possibility.

Fears

Whatever fear you have, know that the fear is real for you. Some fears can be developed over long periods of time while others can seem to randomly appear out-of-the-blue.

We are born with just two natural fears. The fear of being dropped and the fear of loud noises. Every other fear is a learned response. The good thing about learned responses is that they can re-learned (getting a different response) or unlearned (no response at all).

It helps to understand the elements of a fear to keep any useful parts like being mindful of poisonous snakes if dealing with a fear of snakes. It might not be useful to go around handling every snake not knowing whether it was poisonous or not would it? Some fears might have a clear and logical beginning that can be resolved quickly and other fears might have built up over time. A diving instructor once developed a fear of putting their head under water. Not useful for the occupation and resolved quickly and easily.

Sometimes, when people with a fear or phobia try and contemplate a life without the fear or phobia, it might seem totally incomprehensible. After all, imagining being OK with something that is terrifying can be a stretch of the imagination. This is absolutely understandable and is why a blend of techniques may be just the thing for you. It may even be possible just not even think about the fear or phobia in the first place. A whole new kind of normal! A neutral response!

While some therapies like CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) require multiple sessions and repeat visits, the Rapid Change Therapy techniques usually resolves fear in just one session. There have been devices that measure the response rate to a fear or phobia. I have heard statements like amelioration of the phobia by 20%. So instead of a full blown fear, just an 80% fear. WTF? With Rapid Change Therapy you either have the fear or you do not. The test is pretty simple!

Weird and Wonderful

It is a privilege to have clients that put their utmost faith in the process. The reasons and the symptoms are never important when it comes to the weird and wonderful. People turn up having tried anything and everything, most often with little or no result at all.

With the belief that the power of the human mind can transcend everything, anything becomes possible. Simply putting energy, mind, body, spirit into the desired outcome and the required change can have dramatic effects on people's daily lives. It is so rewarding to facilitate these changes.

Weight Loss

Most people that have tried all manner of exercise programmes, diets, fads and even starvation techniques to lose weight, fail. In the end they often end up in a worse position than when they started by putting on more weight than they have lost. There is a good reason for that, it is your body responding to its needs and desires. Lose weight? Put on more in case you lose it again.

There can be many reasons why people can be overweight; eating habits, portion sizes, nutritional content (or lack of it), poor metabolism, medical conditions or excuses. There can even be a combination of factors involved in 'sabotaging' your efforts.

The symptoms and treatments are many and varied. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a quick fix. There is however, a possibility that you can resolve your weight problems by working with the disconnect between what you are currently experiencing compared with how you want to be.

If you get the inside right, the outside will follow.

Addiction

Is your addiction damaging to yourself, your loved ones or your colleagues? Help is at hand.

  • Addictions come in many shapes and sizes such as:
  • • Food (chocolate and Coke seem popular)
  • • Smoking and tobacco
  • • Shopping (retail therapy or shopaholic?)
  • • Alcohol (when social turns anti-social)
  • • Drugs (over the counter and/or recreational)
  • • Gambling (at least 'the house' always wins)
  • • OCD Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD, OCD, OCD, OCD...)
  • • Annoying Habits (like nail biting)
  • • And more...
An addiction put simply is an unwanted or undesired behaviour. Whether it is substance abuse, a nasty habit or a pathological desire to keep doing something that you shouldn't, it can be resolved. Most humans are driven by something we like to call emotions. At the root of almost all addictions is an emotional trigger that supports the undesirable. It can be a strong emotion to attract the behaviour or a strong emotion to compensate for unfulfilled desired, even attention seeking.

Eliciting the origins of the behaviour to treat it once and for all it is relegated to the past where it belongs.

Anger Management

Anger or uncontrolled outbursts to events, people and situations is a learned response. If you are seeking help in relation to Anger Management you probably have an automatic pilot response that causes you to react aggressively in certain situations. You might not even be aware that you are doing it until after the event has passed.

This can be difficult for those around you, and potentially both harmful and destructive. In therapy, we discover the elements of anger that were installed as your preferred response mechanism, often from childhood, and resolve it. Once and for all!

Self Confidence

Low self-confidence or low self-esteem can prevent you from being the best you that you can be. In work, relationships and living life in general, a low self-confidence level has limiting beliefs.

Imagine how life would be so much better with assertiveness and the confidence in making the best decisions knowing they are the right decisions.

Sayings and affirmations like "change your thoughts and your world will change" simply do not work. Any amount of thoughts about weeds not being in the garden, will not remove the weeds. Action will! It is the same with increasing self-confidence and self-esteem. It all starts with the first step (a little action) and then more baby steps (more action) that follow to a new sense of being.

A personal therapy session would involve delving into the depths of the mind to understand the underpinnings of low self-confidence or low self-esteem. It might be true that if you experience low self confidence in one area of your life, it might appear in other areas of your life. Likewise, if you experience low self-confidence as an adult, there just might be a history of low self-confidence as a teenager or as a child.

Not everyone is the same. Not all therapy is the same

Relationships

How you feel about a relationship is entirely of your own doing. Admittedly, you might not want to feel that way, nor want to accept it, but the first thing that needs to change is YOU. Not the other person, you usually can't change them.

Often, because you are so engrossed in the relationship, you might not have the complete perspective on it. Perhaps it's time to view the relationship in a judgement free environment and possibly explore unthought-of options for improving the situation.

An unhealthy or even toxic relationship, that may have ended (or not), yet the attachment stayed can be an indication that other relationships in your life are being affected as well.

The better news is that once the underlying reasons for the disconnect are discovered, resolution is easy and quick. Clearing the path to free your mind and be free of the feelings.

Relaxation

Relaxation has so many benefits for the human being. Much like sleep, it is used to help the mind, body and spirit recover. It has rejuvenation properties and reinvigorating properties that restore balance to what may otherwise be a hectic life.

Take time out for you. Feel good. Experience what might seem like an entire night's sleep in as little as one hour.

Healthy Living

Old habits can be hard to break. A lifetime or what seems like a life time of overindulgence or being unsupportive of your earthly being can have negative consequences. Dis-ease can result in all manner of ill-being. There is a big difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it.

It was explained well by Albert Einstein when he said the problems that are created by the mind cannot be fixed by the mind that created them. This could be the simple answer to getting the change you deserve, quickly and easily.

Public Speaking

Regular surveys like the one conducted by the Automobile Association of America, continually rate the fear of public speaking to be higher than the fear of death. Thinking about that, it does make sense. Everyone will die one day, not everyone will speak in front of an audience.

Thinking about any presentations that you may have been to, how fearful would you think the presenter(s) was of public speaking? It probably didn't occur to you to check. The reason being that you would or should have been more interested in the content of the presentation rather than the demeanour of the speaker.

Key to a good presentation is being prepared and knowing the subject matter. Key to a dynamic presentation is in knowing how to use the space you have for best effect, the intonations, speaker support and the art of communication.

Prepare to be amazed at how natural a previously unnatural environment can become.

Stress Relief

Mention the word stress and it will mean different things to different people. So what is it actually? In its simplest form, stress is the physical being (body) reacting to a situation. It should be noted the situation could be real or imaginary (just a thought will do).

You may have heard of our FIGHT or FLIGHT mechanism that resides deep within our reptilian brains. We all have it, we all use it. In some situations the automated response is to fight. Tackle things head on. In other situations the automated response is to flight. Run for it! Both are valid, some people are better at one over the other and both are fine. In the late 1990s a third response was added: FREEZE. In some situations people can freeze and not know what to do. In the modern age I would like to propose the fourth F: FOTO (photo).

But it is more than just a response. When we are responding, our adrenal glands are activated as a way of coping with the situation. Our physical being is flooded with adrenalin. In short spurts this is really healthy. In long doses, it can cause dis-ease within the body. It is important to find ways of dealing with it. There are many. Meditation is just one.

Therapeutically, if too much stress is restricting you from living a normal life, then it is time for an intervention. Things can be done to change how you deal with stress.

Quick Fix: focus on your breathing, slow it down, breathe deeper.

Procrastination

"Never put off until tomorrow, what can be done today". Whoever wrote this in the first place had no idea about modern living and our ability to overload ourselves. There is an art to procrastinating. There may be times when something was not done at all and never needed to be done. There may be times when cramming at the last minute is a coping strategy that works. So, not all procrastination is unhealthy.

If procrastination is a recurring theme that is having a negative impact on life, then something should change. There can be deep, ingrained beliefs that may have been installed at a young age, or there could have been repeating patterns throughout your life that have contributed to a state of lethargy where perhaps nothing really matters.

If it is a problem for you, it can be changed. Quickly and easily!
